I love to watch the birdies as they hop and jump around,
Their antics so amusing as they scratch upon the ground
To dislodge a tasty bug or a wayward hidden seed -
I love to watch my avian friends when they come to feed.
The ground is covered now with leaves, a hidden treasure trove
Of insects looking for some good protection as they rove.
But even leaves cannot protect a bug from birdie's eye -
Their antics so amusing as they scratch upon the ground
To dislodge a tasty bug or a wayward hidden seed -
I love to watch my avian friends when they come to feed.
The ground is covered now with leaves, a hidden treasure trove
Of insects looking for some good protection as they rove.
But even leaves cannot protect a bug from birdie's eye -
That bug is bound for supper; oh, that bug is bound to die.
My heart is always gladdened by my little feathered friends.
A sighting of a brand new birdie thrills me to no end!
Each time I see a new one, I run to get the book,
And quickly grab binoculars, to get a better look.
Whenever I go out I hear the birds in conversation.
When I look up I see the geese flying in formation.
And when I'm in the car I search the sky for red-tailed hawks.
I'm an avian voyeur, 'cause at birds I love to gawk!
